SoulNeeds - Articles - 50 Rules for Dads of Daughters

I wanted to share this sweet article. My friend Christa posted this on Facebook and it made me smile while at the same time I had to try not to cry. It made me think of Chris and Makenna and made me love their father-daughter relationship even more than I already do. I also thought of my Dad, he is my hero (always has been) he is so cool, I love him for who he is and the values, morals, and beliefs he has taught me. My Dad is a super-Dad having not one but TWO daughters. SoulNeeds - Articles - 50 Rules for Dads of Daughters.

First Beach Day

It was our first beach day of 2012 and they twins had a blast.... there was a little bit of naughty sand throwing but we can work on that.  I'm so excited for more beach days this year.  The babies are a little older so I'm a little more comfortable having them out in the sun.  I didn't like too much sun and heat when they were younger and sand in their bottles, diapers, and sippy cups.  But now we have straws and juice boxes mastered and they are getting better about letting me put on sunscreen. My mom got here on Sunday morning and we were out to the beach that day!!
On our way to the beach with the top down, Daddy's car is fun!!

Throw me Daddy!!!! She loves it!

and it makes Mommy a little nervous.......

ok A LOT nervous.... the whole time I was saying "Chris not so high, Chris careful!!!" and he would say "I'm not gonna drop her" I knew he wouldn't ever let her fall, but it just makes me nervous watching my little baby fly through the air.

This is her cheerleading "stunt" She locks her knees and balances so good. She's a natural :)

he got a haircut... can you tell??? haha

He loved playing in the sand. It makes me happy that it will keep him busy so we can relax a little bit on the beach and just watch him play.

caught in the act!! NAUGHTY! We are working on not throwing sand. Chris ended up with it all down his shorts and in his hair. Not a happy daddy with sand everywhere.
My Mom took these pictures and I got a few more from her camera, from the twins 2nd birthday.  I'm so glad she remembered to take pictures because I was so busy I didn't get a chance to take any. Thanks Momma! I'll write a post about their birthday next :)

OH and I think I fixed the COMMENTS section below.. Try it out and leave me a little love note.
I want to see if it works.

Yo Ho Ho!!

We did enough on Saturday morning to fill a whole weekend. After pictures we went down to the sponge docks to walk around and have lunch. As we were walking and looking at the sponging boats (Carter and Kenna called them pirate ships) they were being so funny saying "yo ho ho" and "arg matey" to each boat we passed. They were having so much fun looking at the boats we decided to take them on a pirate ship ride (it was a sponging boat).
We were the first trip of the day so we got to see the diver get dressed in all his gear.

I was a little worried the twins were going to be afraid of him in that huge suit, but they didn't mind at all. Maybe it was because they watched him get ready.

Carter even went all by himself to take a picture with him. Makenna was too obsessed with her lipgloss to even notice the huge diver standing next to her, hahaha.

She put that lipgloss on the whole time we were on the boat. After the third time she attempted to put it on me I was ready to throw it (the lipgloss not Kenna) overboard.
Anyway, we had a cute captain and crew that could have been some of the original spongers of Tarpon Springs.
The captain told us the history and entire process of sponge diving. He also told us about this other boat and captain that was on the discovery channel for the show Dirty Jobs.

The boat and Captain on Dirty Jobs.
I didn't know this but sponges on the bottom of the ocean are actually black and kinda slimy and don't look anything like the final product you buy in the stores.
The diver brought a wool sponge up from the bottom of the ocean and we all got to touch it. Carter and Kenna even touched it. Carter full out grabbed at it (so boy) and Kenna very carefully with one finger touched it (the sponge was wearing lipgloss too) Kenna managed to leave a little smudge of lipgloss on everything.
It was a fun spontaneous boat trip on a beautiful Saturday morning. Afterward we went to lunch at Mama's for Greek salad. The kids were exhausted by that time and in hind sight we should have ordered our food to go. We all took a nap when we got home ;)

Our Fun Saturday :)

I love getting up early on the weekends and getting out of the house while it is still "morning". When I'm up early and my day starts right away I feel like I get to do more on my short weekends. I especially like when I get to do something fun like the twins 2 year photo shoot that I have been planning in my head for months. It was a circus theme and it was OH-SO- ADORABLE!!!
It all started in September (I know it's been a long time planning) when the twins got huge lollipops from Disney World. I loved all the colors and it was something to keep them happy and entertained for their pictures. ( anything to keep them longer than 5 minutes) One day as I was playing on pinterest (probably drinking coffee, it has become my morning ritual) I saw the cutest photo shoot with a tee pee. Then I started thinking tee pee, lollipops, outside......... Let's do a circus!!!! I already had just about everything I needed for props. I had a bunch of scrap fabric strips I used for a project last year that worked perfect for streamers. I already had the perfect tee pee, aka big-top circus tent. The twins have a huge lion and giraffe (a circus always has a lion, and the giraffe is just cute). I already had a bunch of paint, I mixed a couple colors and came up with a pretty shade of green (for the signs that I used wood from the garage) Then the after Christmas 75% off clearance helped with the rest. (I love a good sale!)
I called Ashley (www.ashleyhamiltonphotography.com) and told her about my idea and she loved it too. I'm so glad she could envision what I was thinking because Chris was a little skeptical. I was making the streamers one day and he said " I know what you want it to look like but I don't think it's going to turn out that way. A tee pee and a field and whatever you are making do not look like a circus." I just told him "you'll see, Ashley likes my idea too, if she likes it it's gonna work." I have to admit I was a little worried it wasn't going to look right or that I was planning too much stuff and it was going to take away from the twins.
I met Ashley early and set up before Chris and the twins got there. Yep, daddy got them ready all by himself! I think he was as surprised as the twins were when he saw what we set up. All three of them loved the circus we created!!! I can't wait to see the finished product, Ashley is an amazing photographer and the twins were being so stinkin cute playing in their circus.

Home

We had such an eventful trip home this past weekend! We got to see both sides of the family, a new baby made her way into the world, a fabulous wedding shower, a day with my dad and brother :) I'm tired just thinking about everything we did in 3 days.
